Igor Skaletsky. Dream and Surreal

Igor Skaletsky. Dream and Surreal

Traditional painting techniques merge with modern technologies to create an imaginary universe, familiar and alienating together, in the work of the young and already established Israeli artist of Russian origin, who freely plays with the known images of art history and popular culture mixing them with irony to the iconic ones of the fashion world. The enchanted elsewhere that derives from the free manipulation of fragments of the common imagination leads the viewer into a surreal dimension, capable of freeing the dreamlike, the fantastic and the magic that is in each of us, and taking inspiration from the Purim, the Jewish Feast that falls on the 14th day of the Jewish month of Adar, a well-known joyful celebration with many and complex meanings, which leaves a lot of space for play and fantasy and disguise, becoming its fulcrum.
